Strängnäs
Strängnäs town centre is well worth a visit. This charming town on the banks of Lake Mälaren features a large number of small boutiques and stores. Also a good many restaurants serving widely differing menus and excellent accommodation in charming hotels.

Mariefred
An idyllic small town with the magnificent Gripsholm palace and its inviting walks. The old wooden houses harbour many small shops and boutiques offering an extremely varied selection of goods and fare. Take the opportunity to take one of the guided tours combining boat, steam train and conventional trains.

Stallarholmen
At Lake Mälaren beach on the east side of Selaön island, you will find the magnificent great baroque house of Mälsåker. On the west side of the island is the ancient Åsa burial ground from the Viking era, featuring a burial ship.

Åkers Styckebruk and Åkers Bergslag
This historical industrial area contains two companies founded in the days of Gustav Vasa. Åkers Styckebruk and Åkers Krutbruk. The Styckebruk (gun factory) made canons that wee sold for export throughout Europe and the Krutbruket (gunpowder works) made ammunition.
Continuing on through the community you reach the old mining district now a recreation area with bathing and fishing lakes, canoeing waterways and hiking trails and a well-preserved mine at Skottvång. In winter, Marviken bay is popular with skaters.
