Strängnäs municipality, containing the two towns of Strängnäs and Mariefred, lies in a central position in the middle of the Mälardalen valley. From here you can reach all towns and cities in the area within one hour. Stockholm is less than 45 minutes away. Skavsta (Stockholm) airport takes about 50 minutes and Arlanda (Stockholm) airport about one hour.

By road:
From Stockholm (about 60 minutes), take the E4/E20 to Södertälje. Continue along the E20 towards Göteborg, after about 30 kilometres you will see a sign/exit no 139 to Mariefred and Stallarholmen, exit no 138 to Åkers styckebruk. To get to Strängnäs continue along the E20 to the Strängnäs exit no 137 at Biskopskvarn.
From Eskilstuna (20-40 minutes), take E20 towards Stockholm. After about 30 kilometres take the Strängnäs and Stallarholmen exit no 136. For Åkers styckebruk exit no 138 and Mariefred exit no 139.
By train:
From Stockholm central it takes about 40-45 minutes to our stations at Läggesta and Strängnäs. Take the train towards Eskilstuna, Örebro. For Mariefred/Åkers Styckebruk/Stallarholmen get off at Läggesta, which is about 4 kilometres from Mariefred, and take the connecting bus or a taxi.

In the summer the Stockholm – Mariefred route is trafficked by the S/S Mariefred, every day except Monday. www.mariefred.info
